Shinsege: Spa Land and Manuffin

One thing I will definitely miss about living in Korea are the jjimjilbangs, or the public bath houses, especially Spa Land. I've made a routine of coming to this place every time I need to unwind, relax, or treat myself kindly. Here is a peek of my favorite place to go in  Haeundae.

The bathing pools are of course gender segregated.  There are two different kinds of baths to soak in, one for muscle relief and one for skin beautifying.

The common area is huge!  The layout is gorgeous, every thing is new and clean with a nice wood finish.  There are all together 13 sauna rooms, each with a different theme. In addition, there is a relaxation room with reclining chairs and personal TVs, a restaurant, outdoor foot baths, oxygen chambers, and oodles of places to just lay about. Spa Land is by far the most luxurious jjimjilbang that I've been to.

Some other perks:
  1. No children under 13 are allowed in here. Soooo much less awkward!
  2. You don't need to carry cash, as you can charge anything to your "beeper"
  3. The price is 7,000-14,000 depending on times and days (mornings, late night, and weekdays are cheaper).  That's about 7-14 USD for four glorious hours!

View from the top.

This floor space is heated and so nice to sprawl out on.

In the relaxation room, which is filled with recliners and personal TVs.

Now a glimpse of several rooms, in the form of feet pictures:

Relaxation Room | Enjoy snacks/drinks while perusing through movies and TV shows.

One of the many types of lounge chairs

SEV Room | Patent technology that creates electrons, increasing metabolism and reducing tiredness.
The colors change every minute or so.

Bone Sound Room | Based on the idea of bone conductivity. There is a restful and meditative humming in this room

Pyramid Room | Channels the energy of this ancient shape.

Roman Room | Based on the ancient Roman bath houses.

Himalayan Salt Room | Discharges body waste, while improving blood circulation and increasing the immune system.
In the early mornings when no one is there, I can practice yoga in here. This is my favorite room by far.

This was taken in the cold room, which can be used in turn with the other heated rooms.

I usually utilize the full 4 hours that Spa Land allots for its patrons. It really is that easy to spend all that time lying around, especially with a good book (reading Game of Thrones right now ^^). Then after Spa Land, I make one stop before heading home.

Located in the Shinsage food court, Manoffin is pure magic.  I like to describe these goodies as muffin-cupcake hybrids.  They come in all sort of flavors from chocolate to fruity. I have never been disappointed.

I will eat their faces off.

The Chocolate Fondant

Yes, sometimes my days are decadent.

Directions to Spa Land
From Centum City station, take Exit 12. Follow the signs to Spa Land.  Walk past the entrance to Shinseagae.  as the entrance to Spa Land further down the building. Manoffin is located on the basement level of Shinsegae in the middle of the food court area.
